Position Summary
Elder Corporation is seeking an experienced and motivated Traveling Project Manager to oversee heavy civil construction projects from pre-construction through completion. This role is responsible for estimating, bidding, project planning, scheduling, budgeting, field coordination, and customer communication.
The Traveling Project Manager works closely with superintendents, field personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and company leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and values.
This position requires frequent travel and overnight stays based on project location and scheduling demands.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Estimating
Compile and analyze data affecting project quality, scheduling, cost, and profitability.
Assist Senior Estimators with bid strategy development and project planning.
Prepare accurate quantity take-offs and cost estimates using project plans and specifications.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously from award through completion.
Monitor project budgets, schedules, manpower, equipment, and material usage.
Track project progress and proactively resolve issues impacting cost, quality, or schedule.
Prepare and submit RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
Maintain project schedules and material purchase requests.
Produce timely project reports for management and stakeholders.
Communication & Coordination
Communicate project status, schedules, and deadlines with field superintendents, office staff, customers, subcontractors, and company leadership.
Coordinate with engineers, architects, vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project execution.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with customers, subcontractors, and team members.
Address project conflicts and customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
Review and manage project cost codes, payroll allocations, invoices, material purchases, and logistics.
Analyze labor, materials, equipment, and resource requirements to maximize project profitability.
Support accounting and documentation processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications
5-10 years of Project Management and/or Estimating experience in heavy civil or highway construction preferred
Experience with earthmoving, underground utilities, demolition, grading, or site development projects preferred
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Working knowledge of heavy equipment and construction methods
Ability to manage multiple schedules, deadlines, and projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong customer service and relationship management skills
Knowledge of project budgeting, resource allocation, and construction operations
Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred
