OVERVIEW:
The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports production readiness and continuous improvement by combining hands-on fabrication, equipment setup, and layout implementation with basic technical and manufacturing engineering support.
This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined, self-motivated individual who enjoys working both on the shop floor and with basic technical tools, and who has a desire to expand their knowledge and capability in technical systems and tools.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION:
Hands-On / Shop Floor Responsibilities (Core Focus)
Implement and install production line layouts, workstations, and material flow improvements
Build, assemble, and install:
Material conditioning racks
Storage systems (racks/shelving)
Basic fixtures, tooling, and supports
Operate fabrication and shop equipment (drills, saws, grinders, etc.)
Modify and improve existing equipment, workstations, and layouts
Support physical setup of new processes and production areas
Manufacturing & Process Support
Work with Manufacturing Engineers to translate concepts into physical implementation
Assist in developing and improving:
Manufacturing methods
Tooling and fixturing
Workflow efficiency and layouts
Evaluate workspace and help optimize line efficiency and material flow
Light Technical / Computer-Based Responsibilities
Create, update, and print:
Labels (rack labels, WIP labels, identification tags)
Basic signage and visual controls
Maintain and update Excel tracking lists (inventory, layout status, project tracking)
Support development of:
Basic work instructions
Visual aids for production teams
Navigate and review 3D models / CAD layouts (viewer-level interaction expected)
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Required
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on capability
Ability to build, assemble, and install equipment independently
Basic computer skills:
Microsoft Excel (tracking, data entry)
Word / document creation
Problem-solving mindset with strong initiative
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Preferred
Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
Exposure to:
Production line setup or facility layout
Tooling or fixture assembly
Ability to navigate 3D CAD models (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc.)
Experience in creating work instructions or visual documentation
TRAINING/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Associates Degree with 0-5 years working in a manufacturing environment.

High School Diploma with 5+ years working in a manufacturing environment.
Short Description

Shall report all injuries/illnesses to their supervisor that occur at work, the day of the incident
Shall report any unsafe conditions that are identified in their respective work area to their supervisor

Shall wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is communicated and supplied to them
Shall keep their respective work area clean and orderly at all times
Shall attend all CAF USA required training as soon as possible before the start of their assigned work
Shall NOT operate any CAF USA equipment (forklifts, cranes, scissor lifts) until certified to do so
