This position works directly with the pavement engineer by gathering pavement data and providing preliminary analysis with reporting. Transportation Engineering Specialists collect, process and analyze field data using automated pavement measurement equipment, use analysis software, provide technical support for pavement evaluation efforts, and develop innovative solutions. Supports pavement engineer with meetings coordination and presentations. Essential Duties: Transportation Specialist I Assists in planning and coordinating office operations. Performs advanced and specialized design work. Prepares field notes. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Transportation Specialist II In addition to the duties listed above: Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications. May assist in planning and coordinating office operations. Performs advanced and specialized design work. Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Transportation Specialist III In addition to the duties listed above: Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway. Performs advanced and specialized design work. Prepares budget estimates. Trains less experienced technicians. Minimum Qualifications: Education : High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Experience : Transportation Engineer Specialist I: 6 years drafting, design, plan preparation. Transportation Engineer Specialist II: 7 years drafting, design, plan preparation. Transportation Engineer Specialist III: 8 years drafting, design, plan preparation. Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
