Responsibilities
- Manage and track time and material activities for the project, ensuring accurate documentation and alignment with project requirements.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate Requests for Information (RFIs) to clarify design, scope, and field conditions.
- Support and coordinate field inspections, including collecting inspection photographs and relevant documentation.
- Develop, draft, and maintain clear and detailed meeting agendas for project meetings.
- Participate in project meetings, document discussions through meeting minutes, and follow up on action items with the project team and stakeholders.
- Assist with preparation, review, and processing of payment packages and related documentation for contractors working on the citys project.
- Develop and maintain calculation books to document engineering assumptions, calculations, and design decisions for remediation activities.
- Oversee and support remediation work, including planning and coordinating contaminated and hazardous material removal in accordance with applicable standards.
- Monitor and document project progress and conditions, including support for air monitoring activities as required by the project.
- Coordinate with the construction management team and city agencies to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Apply construction management and engineering principles to support project delivery from current status through completion.
- Use Excel and other tools to manage project data, track progress, and prepare reports and documentation.
- Contribute to stormwater pollution prevention (SWPP) related tasks as they relate to site remediation and construction activities.
Essential Skills
- 8+ years of experience in engineering with a specialization in remediation.
- Strong background in construction and construction management on complex infrastructure or remediation projects.
- Hands-on experience with remediation work, including contaminated and hazardous material removal.
- Familiarity with air monitoring practices and requirements on remediation or construction sites.
- Experience developing and maintaining calculation books for engineering projects.
- Proficiency with Excel for data tracking, reporting, and documentation.
- Experience in project engineering, including coordination with contractors, consultants, and public agencies.
- Ability to manage RFIs, time and material documentation, and payment-related project records with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing meeting agendas, documenting meeting minutes, and coordinating with stakeholders.
- Professional Engineer background or credentials strongly preferred.
- Experience working on NYCDPR projects or with NYCDPR procedures is highly preferred.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Prior experience with NYCDPR projects or a NYCDPR background is a strong advantage.
- Experience working on large, multi-phase remediation projects in an urban environment.
- Knowledge of stormwater pollution prevention practices (SWPP) in relation to construction and remediation.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a construction management team and city representatives.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation, calculations, and project records.
- Comfort working in a highly visible public-sector project environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Interest in long-term career growth within complex infrastructure and environmental remediation projects.
This role is 100 percent on site, working directly on the NYCDPR Red Hook Project, which is currently at approximately 4050% completion. You will work closely with a construction management team and city representatives in a professional project office and field environment. The position offers a structured, full-time schedule on an active remediation and construction site, requiring appropriate safety awareness and adherence to site protocols. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $70.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
