Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a civil engineering team of junior engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance feedback.
- Oversee and coordinate all phases of land development projects, including stormwater design, grading, and site planning.
- Prepare, review, and approve civil engineering plans and reports to ensure technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and quality standards.
- Attend and testify at municipal board and public meetings as the responsible Professional Engineer, clearly presenting project designs and responding to questions from boards, staff, and the public.
- Manage a book of business, including project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation to meet client and project deadlines.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships, serving as a primary point of contact and identifying opportunities for new and repeat business.
- Collaborate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders to coordinate design efforts and resolve technical and permitting issues.
- Use Civil 3D to produce and oversee stormwater management designs, grading plans, and site plans for land development projects.
- Ensure that projects comply with applicable New Jersey codes, regulations, and municipal requirements related to land development and stormwater management.
- Support business development activities by participating in client meetings, proposals, and presentations as needed.
Essential Skills
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, with active status.
- Civil Engineering degree.
- 1015+ years of experience working in civil engineering, with a strong focus on land development projects.
- Proficiency in Civil 3D, including its use for stormwater design and site plan preparation.
- Demonstrated experience in stormwater design for land development projects.
- Demonstrated experience in grading design for land development projects.
- Experience testifying at municipal board or similar public meetings as a design professional.
- Experience managing junior team members or leading a civil engineering team.
- Experience working on projects in New Jersey, with familiarity with local regulations and approval processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to clients, municipal boards, and team members.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and a book of business.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Land development experience with private-sector projects.
- Experience building and maintaining client relationships and supporting client development activities.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a broader project team.
- Comfort presenting in public forums and addressing questions from municipal boards and community stakeholders.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Knolls, NJ.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72.00 - $86.00/hr.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job
