Senior Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of high-speed rotating equipment and centrifugal compressor systems. The individual will be responsible for mechanical design efforts across rotor systems, pressure-containing components, and auxiliary systems while supporting analysis, manufacturability, and testing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of centrifugal compressor systems and major components.
  • Design high-speed rotating assemblies, pressure casings, and structures.
  • Perform engineering analysis including rotor dynamics, stress, fatigue, thermal performance, vibration, and modal analysis.
  • Conduct bearing load calculations.
  • Create detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
  • Define specifications for bearings, seals, lubrication systems, and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers on machining, balancing, and material selection.
  • Support prototype builds and testing, including overspeed, hydrostatic, leak, and run testing.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshoot failures.
  • Ensure compliance with standards such as API, UL, and IEC.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of turbomachinery or compressor design experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proficiency in designing mechanical systems, preferably for pressure equipment and rotating equipment.
  • Understanding of rotor dynamics, bearings and seal systems, pressure vessels, and piping systems.
  • Experience with CAD and FEA tools.
  • Skills in creating manufacturing drawings and specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with turbomachinery and compressor design, specifically centrifugal systems.
  • Knowledge of rotor dynamics and high-speed rotating equipment.
  • Familiarity with FEA/simulation tools such as ANSYS and MATLAB.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD modeling, and GD&T.
Work Environment

The work environment is engineering-driven with a focus on product development and collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams. It involves a mix of design work and hands-on prototype/test support in a fast-paced, highly technical, and innovation-focused setting. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cerritos, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
