Network Design Planning & Engineering sits at the center of Amazon's North American transportation strategy. We plan how packages flow from fulfillment centers to final delivery destinations, balancing speed, cost, on-time accuracy, and environmental impact. Our work directly shapes the delivery experience for hundreds of millions of customers.
We're looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer who is excited about turning complex data into clear, actionable insights. In this role, you'll build the dashboards, reports, and data tools that help our team and partners see what's happening across the network and make better decisions because of it. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, scientists, and product managers who will support your growth while giving you real ownership of meaningful work from day one.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with teammates across product, science, and engineering to understand what questions the business needs answered then design and deliver the data solutions to answer them.
- Build and maintain interactive dashboards and visualizations that track how the transportation network is performing.
- Create and manage the automated data workflows that feed reports and analytical tools, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses into operational performance, uncover root causes of issues, and recommend improvements backed by data.
- Proactively look for ways to make existing reports and dashboards faster, more accurate, and easier to use.
- Analyze historical trends to surface insights that support planning and forecasting decisions.
Respond to time-sensitive requests with clear, well-structured analysis.
A day in the life
As a Business Intelligence Engineer I, youll support product, science, and engineering teams by building reports, dashboards, and data pipelines that help monitor and improve the performance of Amazons outbound transportation network. Your day may include gathering requirements from stakeholders, developing SQL queries, validating data accuracy, and visualizing trends that inform operational decisions. You'll contribute to team goals by digging into data to answer key business questions, identifying anomalies, and sharing insights that support planning and forecasting efforts. With guidance from senior team members, youll continue to grow your technical skills and business acumen in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
About the team
Network Design Planning and Engineering (NDPE) manages particularly from the time a package gets a shipping label up to the point it is delivered to a final-mile destination. We manage the connectivity, volume flows, and capacity management the integrates the network into a single unified plan that we drive for.
- 2+ years of data analysis using tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, or equivalent experience
- Experience using BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Adobe) to visualize data
- Experience with a variety of digital workflows
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Bachelor's degree or advanced studies in a quantitative field (engineering, economics, math, and statistics)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling
- Experience with various statistical techniques (regression analysis, coefficient correlation)

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
