Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Network Deployment Engineer to support a large-scale End-of-Support (EOS) hardware replacement program. This role focuses on executing remote network cutovers, performing failover activities, and validating network behavior during maintenance windows. The engineer will work closely with lead engineers and follow detailed procedures to ensure seamless transitions with no impact to live network traffic.
Key Responsibilities
Execute remote network device swaps as part of an EOS hardware replacement program
Perform command-line execution on network devices (primarily Cisco; exposure to Juniper is emerging)
Drive traffic failover activities, ensuring live traffic is safely rerouted prior to device removal
Perform validation checks before, during, and after cutover using internal tools and command-line outputs
Execute detailed Method of Procedures (MOPs) with precision during maintenance windows
Conduct device health checks and confirm readiness prior to cutover
Gracefully decommission legacy hardware by executing shutdown and failover procedures
Bring new devices online, validate configurations, and confirm network stability post-implementation
Troubleshoot issues in real time during cutovers, escalating to lead engineers as needed
Partner with onsite technicians who perform the physical installation while driving all remote engineering execution
Day-to-Day Work
Review and interpret MOPs to understand each deployment step prior to execution
Execute configuration and validation commands on Cisco (and eventually Juniper) devices
Monitor failover behavior and confirm routing and traffic continuity
Use internal validation tools along with CLI outputs to confirm network integrity
Document validation outcomes and escalate issues through defined escalation paths
