Requisition Summary
Do you want to help shape Peterbilt's future electric powered vehicles?
The Zero Emissions Design team is looking for a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Engineer with interest in supporting innovative new technologies.
Engineering projects may include new product development, current production design & support, field service & warranty reduction, and factory process improvements.
Duties involve interfacing with Peterbilt and Kenworth Manufacturing, the PACCAR Technical Center, PACCAR Vehicle Electric Powertrain Team, Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, Management and Suppliers to ensure the high quality development and execution of designs and products for the next generation of industry leading trucks.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead the development of design concepts; refine via analytical tools and prototyping; plan and execute validation activities; support pilot build events; launch product into full production.
- Ability to manage deliverables across multiple projects, providing guidance on the application of specific tools and or processes.
- Work in a collaborative small-team environment to explore and evaluate advanced vehicle technologies.
- Provide guidance and coaching to young engineers.
- Maintain DFMEA and DVP tasks and deliverables.
- Collaborate with multiple suppliers to aid successful integration and validation of electric powertrain components into PACCAR trucks
- Leverage internal product development processes and Six Sigma skills to ensure high quality results, manage progress and report updates.
- Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
- Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
- Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
- Support pilot builds at PACCAR truck factories.
- Travel up to 15% may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar field
- 5 years of experience in related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in business or engineering
- PE License (Professional Engineer)
- Experience leading engineering projects and stakeholders
- Six Sigma training/experience desired, Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) preferred
- Knowledge and experience with Battery Electric Powertrains desired
- Familiarity and experience with Medium and Heavy Duty commercial vehicles and technologies preferred
- Basic knowledge of Creo Parametric, SolidWorks or other similar CAD modeling software
- Familiarity with project management methods and tools
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, adaptability to change, self-starter
- Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal/written)
- Applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and related computer software
