Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, highbandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks,Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable theelectronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMsglobally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design,sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are expanding our team softwareteam. We are currently seeking a Firmware Engineer for High Speed Cables to joinour team. The position is located on-site, in Nashua, NH.

Our collaborative software team develops firmware, manufacturing applications,and various specialty software tools for our hardware engineering teams. Thefocus of this position is on firmware that goes into our various cable andthermal loopback products, including active copper, passive copper and activeoptical. This area is rapidly evolving to support ever more complexcommunication chips, including DSPs, as well as richer host interfaces, notablyCMIS.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, debug and support of firmware for active high speed IOcables and thermal loopbacks. This includes working with customers as well asmanufacturers of communication chips chosenAs a key firmware resource, be contributing member of product teams thatturn high speed IO cable concepts into products that then get handed off tomanufacturing.Provide engineering support to team members working on fine tuning ofcommunication settings by opening up back doors or interfaces as needed.Work hand-in-hand with developers responsible for manufacturing applicationsProvide firmware support to product qualification, testing, andmanufacturingMentor other members as neededEnsure that all firmware is well documented and can be supported by otherteam membersVisit Amphenol manufacturing plants during product ramp up, as needed

Qualifications

BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 5+ years of industryexperience with firmware development on bare metal or equivalentHands on experience with ARM Cortex-M0/M0+ and embedded solutions from sub32KB of Flash and up, including the use of GPIO pins, ADCs, Interrupts.Good understanding of I2C, including how to debug and support a bit-bangedbusExperience in developing page-based host interfaces for I2C Slaves, such asis used by Small Form Factor devices or CMISWorking knowledge of SWD style debuggingComfortable working in a team that shares code and with peer reviews of codeHands-on experience with source code control systems, including a habit tomake regular check-insExcellent interpersonal communication skills, strong English reading andwriting abilitySelf-starter, able to work efficiently without having all details orrequirements laid out on the tableDynamic and adaptable personality, able to think out of the box

Preferred Qualifications

Work experience in multi-disciplinary engineering teamsAccustomed to working in a global, hybrid environment, using tools such asTeams and ZoomExperience with I2C and SPI busesExperience working with a logic analyzerUnderstanding of Signal Integrity theory and practiceFamiliarity in working with low level hardware interfaces and reading chipdata sheetsExperience working with high-speed communication equipment, includingknowledge about SFF standardsWorking experience with Digital Signal ProcessorsExperience working with prototype hardware and lab settingsAbility to improvise testing setups with bread boards and jumpersHands on experience with KeilWorking knowledge of C8051 8-bit MCUsComfortable working in C++, preferably using Visual StudioExperience using SVNFamiliarity with Linux and traditional command line interfaces
