Job Description: Industrial Engineer

This Industrial Engineer role focuses on developing and maintaining manufacturing standard operating procedures, programming CNC machinery, and leading lean manufacturing process improvements within a metal fabrication environment. The position requires a motivated, results-driven engineer with a strong commitment to excellence, proven problem-solving abilities, and a passion for continuous improvement in production efficiency, quality, and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Program and operate press brakes, panel benders, lasers, and other advanced robotic equipment to support efficient and accurate metal fabrication.
  • Create and maintain accurate product routings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related production data records to ensure reliable manufacturing information.
  • Conduct detailed operational analyses of production methods to evaluate labor efficiency and identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Recommend and implement changes to production processes to improve throughput, reduce waste, and enhance overall manufacturing performance.
  • Design, develop, and lead training sessions for supervisors and trainers on new or improved production techniques and processes.
  • Ensure manufacturing systems and processes operate reliably and safely while improving production rates, efficiency, yields, cost-effectiveness, and changeover times.
  • Optimize process capability and production volumes while maintaining and advancing quality standards across all stages of manufacturing.
  • Develop, implement, and refine systems that optimize all stages of the production process, from initial setup through final output.
  • Champion and implement Lean Manufacturing principles, driving a culture of continuous improvement and effective problem-solving.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and quality, to support new product introductions and process changes.
  • Utilize industrial engineering tools such as time studies and workflow analysis to standardize work and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Document process changes, standard work, and best practices to support consistent execution and ongoing improvement.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in CNC machining programming, including laser, press brake, and CNC mill/lathe.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and a mindset focused on continuous improvement and effective problem-solving.
  • Experience with industrial engineering practices such as process improvement, time studies, and manufacturing process optimization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate and deliver training.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data analysis, documentation, and reporting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks for design review and process planning.
  • Experience with NC Express and CADMAN is a plus.
  • Familiarity with MRP systems to support planning and production control is advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience in metal fabrication environments, particularly with sheet metal, is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in process engineering and industrial engineering within manufacturing settings.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing tools such as 5S, standard work, and waste reduction initiatives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montgomery, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $36.00/hr.
