Konik is partnering with a fast-growing local startup with a focus on providing advanced sustainable heating and cooling technologies to add a Lead Building Automation & Controls Engineer to its growing team. This is a unique opportunity to join a mission-driven, scalinganization developing innovative energy systems that significantly reduce carbon emissions acrossmercial, industrial, and multi-family facilities.
In this role, you will lead automation-focused project execution forplex heating and cooling systems, supporting controls integration,missioning, system optimization, and cross-functional coordination. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical automation expertise, project leadership experience, and strongmunications skills within building systems, industrial controls, or energy infrastructure settings.
Lead Building Automation & Controls Engineer Responsibilities:
Lead automation and controls integration activities across projects from design & programming through configuration &missioning for multi-site, large-scale Niagara N4 deployments
Manage project schedules, deliverables, system performance objectives, and automation-related milestones
Coordinate integration of PLCs, sensors, SCADA systems, BAS/BMS platforms, and related controls technologies
Perform startups & supportmissioning, functional testing, troubleshooting, and long-term system optimization initiatives
Collaborate with project managers, engineering, operations, sales, and external partners to ensure successful project delivery
Serve as the primary point of contact for automation-relatedmunication with customers, contractors, and vendors
Develop automation documentation, including control sequences,missioning procedures, and system architecture standards
Lead Building Automation & Controls Engineer Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Controls, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field preferred
8+ years of experience in building automation & HVAC systems in engineering or field technician capacity
Must be proficient in Niagara-based building automation systems; Niagara N4 Certification or similar (AX certification with demonstrable N4 proficiency)
Proficiency in creating control and wiring diagrams utilizing AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, or similar tools
Experience managing technical projects involving building automation systems, industrial controls, or energy systems
Ability and willingness to travel 25-50%;bination of local and out of state work
