Job Description
The Engineering Manager is responsible for the oversight and support of the daily operation of the hotel, including both interior and exterior areas. This role ensures the building, grounds, and all related systems are maintained in a safe, functional, and guest-ready condition at all times. The position works in close collaboration with the Director of Engineering to align daily operations with departmental goals and priorities.
This role requires a strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical systems, and general building maintenance practices. The Engineering Manager supports the maintenance, repair, and operation of hotel facilities and equipment, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards and applicable codes and regulations.
Key responsibilities include\:
- Overseeing daily engineering operations across guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, and exterior grounds.
- Supporting maintenance and repair of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, kitchen, and laundry systems.
- Coordinating preventive maintenance programs and routine inspections.
- Ensuring the hotel meets safety, operational, and regulatory standards.
- Supervising, training, and supporting engineering team members.
- Assigning and monitoring work orders to ensure timely and quality completion.
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and maintenance supply inventory.
- Responding to maintenance and guest-related facility issues in a timely manner.
- Supporting inspections, compliance requirements, and safety programs.
- Collaborating with the Director of Engineering on daily priorities, operational needs, and departmental objectives.
Salary
$68,000 to $89,000
Qualifications
Previous experience in hotel or commercial building maintenance required.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance or engineering environment required.
Strong working knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical systems, and general building maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facility-related issues.
Strong operational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, including working with hotel leadership and other departments.
Ability to respond effectively to urgent maintenance needs and guest-related issues.
Knowledge of safety standards, regulatory requirements, and facility compliance
Ability to lead, train, and support a maintenance engineering team
