Job Summary

The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in managing internal construction projects while maintaining an accurate project database. This position requires a deep understanding of construction and building maintenance concepts, along with exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.
  • Develops project budgets and negotiates contracts/bids to acquire necessary resources to ensure project completion.
  • Proactively develop relationships with the subcontractor community and exhibit excellent client-facing and internal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Lead and/or assist with estimating potential projects.
  • Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients.
  • Obtains necessary permits required for construction.
  • Ensure job processes are followed in accordance with policy.
  • Capable of reading plans and specifications, comparing them with ongoing construction, and identifying errors.
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, design consultants, the public, and project owners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinates initial surveys of new space and assets.
  • Lead and direct the work of project team members, including those without direct reporting relationships.
  • Screens, selects, and coordinates subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Generates periodic progress reports and provides updates to management and clients.
  • Coordinate with the Architect, Contractor, and other project team members to meet the project objectives and resolve issues.

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements

  • B.S. in Construction Management or related field (e.g., Architecture, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Design, and Engineering).
  • 8 years of relevant experience or an associate degree plus 6 years of relevant experience may be considered. If qualifying with a high school diploma, participation in a relevant Vocational/Technical program is preferred. Relevant experience must be in a construction related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years working experience in project management.
  • Construction Management experience and a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred.

  • Contract Management: Create and manage construction contracts and associated documentation for the project.
  • Technology Utilization: Utilize University software, procedures, and protocols to track project progress and completion.
  • Change Management: Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and costs as required.
  • Team Leadership: Set deadlines, make assignments, and monitor project progress while maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain necessary project documentation for reporting and tracking.

Approximate starting salary: $73,000 $84,000. The salary offered could be above or below range based on education and experience as it relates to the job description.
