Mechanical Design Engineer (HVAC)

Join a collaborative engineering team designing innovative HVAC and building systems for complex healthcare, laboratory, research, higher education, corporate, and technology facilities. This role provides hands-on experience working alongside senior engineers while contributing to the design, analysis, and implementation of sophisticated mechanical systems from concept through construction.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop HVAC and mechanical building systems for new construction and renovation projects.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents that comply with client requirements, industry standards, and applicable codes.
- Perform system evaluations, load calculations, energy analysis, and cost comparisons to support design decisions.
- Assist with building energy modeling and system performance simulations.
- Support construction administration activities, including reviewing installations and verifying compliance with design intent.
- Conduct field surveys, site investigations, and prepare site visit reports.
- Develop project specifications and Statements of Special Inspections for assigned projects.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project teams throughout all phases of design and construction.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Working knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical building infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prepare technical documentation and construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and engineering analysis software.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer through internships, co-ops, or full-time employment.
- Experience with energy modeling or building performance simulation software.
- Exposure to healthcare, laboratory, research, higher education, corporate, or technology facility projects.
- Familiarity with construction administration processes and field observations.
- EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification or progress toward professional licensure.
