We are currently recruiting for a Quality Engineer to join our team in Calgary, AB. The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and the primary purpose of the role is to; develop, implement, and coordinate the supplier approval process, develop supplier performance evaluations/control system to ensure accurate register of approved suppliers is maintained, and to collaborate with the First Article Inspection (FAIR) process by loading/initiating FAIR files for new parts for both production and supplier. This position will also develop, implement, monitor, and coordinate customer metrics and RCCA.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a supplier approval process, including coordination Quality and/or technical requirements
- Develop and implement a supplier control system including proposing current & multi-year annual oversight plans -travelling to suppliers for audits regularly
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date register of Approved Suppliers (Approved Vendor List) including current status/metrics
- Implement the Supplier Quality Manual and related sub tier document
- Implement, and maintain a Supplier performance monitoring system (influenced by performance and risk indicators)
- Load new part information into Net-Inspect. Follow up on FAIR status with vendors until files are completed by suppliers and approved by DHC Quality Control
- Manage the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR) process. This includes providing updates to and reporting on SCAR metrics (on the MOS board or through reports requested by the Director of Quality)
- Organize, perform Supplier Audits and report results. This include proactively creating and updating the Supplier Audit Plan/schedule and seeking timely approval of audit budget/expense and schedule changes
- Follow through on audit SCARs to ensure timely closure escalating proactively when risks to closure activities are apparent
- Manage & Monitor the Supplier Certification (delegation of authority) program, develop methods for proactive measurement
- Provide advice & training to purchasing personnel related to Supplier QA processes
- Work as part of the Supplier Quality team to ensure program specific requirements (e.g., Dash-8, CL, Twin Otter, etc.) are clearly delineated to the appropriate supplier base
- Assist in the development of standard work for all division activities respecting Lean principle
- Understand metrics that measure key performance parameters
- Strive to achieve world class levels of customer service in every interaction our clients have with DHC
Education & Experience
- TCCA aircraft Maintenance Engineering license preferred
- Technical degree or diploma or equivalent an asset
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with Supplier Management
- Certified Internal Auditor; Certified Lead Auditor preferable
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working under ISO9001, AS9100 or similar standard
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in auditing (Internal, Third-party or similar audits)
- Multi-Language speaker (French, Spanish, English) an asset
- Experience, and understanding technical skills related to critical process specifications
- Experience in QMS metrics including measuring and monitoring of manufacturing processes
- Experience with performing quality assessments including prior audit experience to AS9100 or ISO9001
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage conflicts
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimum supervision and direction
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications
- Good knowledge of statistical techniques and data analysis used in all phases of metrology is considered an asset
