Job Title: Project Engineer Space and Satellite Systems

Job Description

This role leads engineering development efforts for space and satellite programs, ensuring projects meet cost, schedule, and performance objectives. The project engineer applies earned value management, supports key design reviews, and coordinates cross-functional engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute engineering development activities to meet defined cost, schedule, and performance targets for space and satellite programs.
  • Apply earned value management principles to monitor project cost and schedule performance and report status to program leadership.
  • Serve as the cost account manager for assigned work scope, including budgeting, tracking, and forecasting costs.
  • Support Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs) and Critical Design Reviews (CDRs), interfacing directly with the client and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to and support integrated master scheduling efforts to ensure alignment of engineering tasks with program milestones.
  • Lead engineering teams and coordinate day-to-day technical tasks to keep development efforts on track.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with different engineering disciplines to resolve technical issues and integrate subsystem designs.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly to program leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with program requirements, standards, and quality expectations.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in project engineering within the space or satellite domain.
  • Hands-on experience with earned value management for cost and schedule control.
  • Experience with cost account management, including budgeting, tracking, and forecasting.
  • Strong background in project scheduling and working with integrated master schedules.
  • Ability to lead engineering teams and coordinate day-to-day technical activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to support and participate in PDRs and CDRs.
  • Excellent communication skills to interface directly with clients and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance multiple priorities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working on small satellite platforms or constellations.

Work Environment

The role operates primarily within a manufacturing environment focused on space and satellite systems. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams and program leadership, collaborating on modular and scalable small satellite platforms and constellations. The environment emphasizes technical excellence, accountability for cost and schedule, and direct impact on program success. Standard professional attire appropriate for an engineering and manufacturing setting is expected.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Denver, CO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $116000.00 - $200000.00/yr.
