Engineer, Electrical

Design, develop and test Electrical design of LED luminaires and lighting products in a variety of forms. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within Electrical Engineering and applies them to accomplish goals. Working under immediate supervision, the Electrical Engineer has a certain degree of creativity and latitude.

Essential Functions

• Working knowledge of led drivers, circuits, related electronics, and lighting systems and controls
• Key role in selection of LED-LED driver combination for light systems
• Working knowledge of Altium or similar pcb/hardware design software
• Proficiency with CAD (Inventor, Pro/E, Solidworks, etc), CFD (thermal analysis)
• Experience with designing and specifying led pcb boards and related drawings
• ERP Software for Bill of Material creation
• Technical knowledge of electrical and lighting products- indoor/outdoor
• Working knowledge of lighting certification standards- UL, ETL, CSA, Intertek
• Design lighting circuits. Analyze driver designs and apply appropriately to luminaires
• Test prototypes and integrated systems as a part of development process
• Develop and institute concepts and solutions to design and application problems
• Operate in a team environment, practicing concurrent engineering by working closely with members on the development team, as well as Manufacturing, Marketing, Packaging, and other team members
• Participate in design reviews related to assigned projects
• Develop product specifications with development and marketing team
• Perform evaluation of circuits for agency testing; FCC, UL, CSA, etc.
• Understand manufacturing requirements of the products / systems developed and applying Design for Manufacture, Design for Assembly concepts to all functions Experience conducting DFMEA/PFMEA
• Assist manufacturing by traveling to the manufacturing facilities for engineering sample and pilot run start-ups as required
• Perform tolerance analysis considering high volume production
• Assist in component documentation and review of component drawings
• Evaluate and approve alternate and second source of components
• Understand the markets served by the products / systems developed
• Troubleshoot field problems
• Support and update existing products as requested through the Engineering Change Request (ECR) program
• Identify critical path functions required to meet product availability schedules
• Develop and improve product development processes and other engineering processes
• Additional duties as assigned

• Familiar with analog design simulation tools (Spice Simulators)
• Experience with failure analysis techniques such as DFMEA and PFMEA
• Bench and system-level integration / debug / troubleshooting
• System grounding / shielding and EMI mitigation design technique
• Solution oriented; thinks creatively to solve problems
• Ability to work in a team environment and independently
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Education

• 4-yr degree required, BS in Electrical & Electronics engineering with product design background or BS in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design with strong electro-mechanical engineering background

Experience

• Minimum 2 years’ experience required
• Experience with New Product development or sustaining engineering

• Up to 10%; both domestic and international travel required
