Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, Tactical Space Systems Division, is hiring a Systems Engineer/ Principal Systems Engineer System Test. Successful candidates for this position will work in a technical role for space in El Segundo, CA.
The System Test Engineer will lead and support efforts related to the system test readiness and execution of the Phoenix portfolio within the space security mission domain. These activities include the development of test procedures, executing system test readiness and execution events, the development of responses for mission area and technical evolution to the customer, and driving the vision of the Phoenix operational program alongside the development of next-generation space capability. The work of the System Test Engineer will be closely tied to drive the statement of work requirements to closure. A successful candidate will understand space satellite mission planning and operations and prepare review/briefing material for working group meetings, reviews and program status. Expected travel is approximately 20%.
Basic Qualifications:
System Engineer Level (T2) - Bachelors degree in Physics or Engineering or related STEM field with 2 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations
Principal System Engineer Level (T3) - Bachelors degree in Physics or Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations
This position can be filled as a T2 or a T3 based on the qualifications.
- Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current TS/SCI Clearance at time of application
- Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
- Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: system test technical planning, interface definition, system test procedure development, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total system
- Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in system test, satellite ground software, distributed modeling & simulation
- Understanding of system of system architecture designs and the interplay between various national security customers and products
- Be able to make decisions under high pressure environments and maintain composure in stressful situations
- Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems
- Previous experience with flight hardware on operational systems
- Previous experience with Class C / demonstration programs
- Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor

Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Salary Range 2: $110,300.00 - $165,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
