Job Overview:

Building on over a century of innovation, our Gardner Denver Nash division continues to lead the way in manufacturing high-quality air compressors. To maintain this legacy of excellence, we're looking for a Design Engineer to oversee and coordinate all aspects of assigned sustaining, i2V (VAVE), NPD, and NTI projects, ensuring they meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives. As our Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of key projects and products, driving improvements in design, performance, and manufacturing processes. You'll apply engineering principles effectively while optimizing resources. Additionally, you'll play a key role in shaping long-term product and technology roadmaps, contributing to strategic planning and forecasting.

The successful candidate will be experienced in all phases of the product life cycle, from concept to launch, and excel at building strong relationships across all levels and functions of the business. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional project management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical, business, and operational teams . This role supports projects and initiatives aligned with our 'Making Life Better' (MLB) vision and Annual Operating Plan (AOP), focusing on advancing our Centrifugal Multistage and Integrally Geared Blower product lines.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilize engineering principles and processes in accordance with the Ingersoll Rand Project Execution (IRPX) framework to drive effective project execution
  • Proficiency using engineering principles and processes according to the Ingersoll Rand Project Execution (IRPX) framework.
  • Identify, develop, and gather the resources necessary to complete projects and programs.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
  • Work with Centrifugal Blower product lines to improve design, performance, and/or manufacturing process.
  • Support Engineering efforts on critical projects, which includes idea development, prototype, project execution, and plant/business system implementation.
  • Evaluate existing products for re-design based on feedback from manufacturing, quality, or assembly and assess functionality to determine product effectiveness for customers.
  • Produce cost effective designs, complex layouts assemblies, detail parts drawings, and generate associated bills of materials.
  • Design and implement test programs to insure designs are adequate for intended purpose and meet specifications and functional requirements
  • Provide technical guidance to team members including Sourcing, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing with respect to product-based education and decisions.
  • Work closely with Customer Service, Field Service, and Manufacturing personnel to resolve issues regarding legacy and new products.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating equipment. In lieu of direct rotating equipment experience, candidates with a background in the design of industrial equipment or machinery will also be considered.
  • Solid mechanical aptitude is essential, ideally complemented by experience with gears, oil pumps, bearings, and the design of casted components
  • Strong proficiency in vibrations (including root cause analysis), rotor dynamics, thermodynamics, and compressible flow will prove highly valuable in this role.
  • Solid modeling CAD skills and experience with PLM tools are essential. Proficiency with software such as Inventor, SolidWorks, and/or CREO, as well as PLM platforms like Windchill, is highly desirable
  • Computer Aided Engineering experience ideally with FEA and CFD software.
  • Passionate self-starter, with demonstrated knowledge, experience and drive to inspire and coach others to reach their full potential.
  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to navigate conflict, foster collaboration, and remain adaptable in the face of change and ambiguity.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to excel in a fast-paced, creative, and results-oriented atmosphere.

  • Product Design & Testing : Design cost-effective products, create detailed drawings, and implement tests to ensure designs meet specifications and functionality.
  • Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization: Identify opportunities for process improvements in design, manufacturing, and testing to enhance product quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving in Fast-Paced Environments: Thrive in a fast-paced environment, navigate conflict, and adapt to change to achieve project goals and drive team success.

Preferences:

  • Master's Degree
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience in plant and/or manufacturing operations
  • Ansys and/or Converge software experience
  • Experience with ERP software preferably with SAP ECC 6.0
  • Minor programming and coding skills in Python and /or LabView

Travel and Work Arrangements

  • This position is based in our Bentleyville, PA facility
  • Hybrid role with 2 days remote from home office
