- Design electrical systems for commercial, office, retail, healthcare, and other project types.
- Apply design knowledge in power distribution, grounding, lighting, control systems, and equipment specifications and selections.
- Prepare schematics for various systems.
- Collaborate with all disciplines to achieve a completed coordinated design and review the work of others.
- Perform on-site investigations to confirm existing conditions.
- Develop familiarity with current electrical codes and standards.
- Form relationships with equal level personnel of other disciplines (architectural, electrical, structural civil, etc.) and manufacturing sales representatives.
- Become familiar with and prepare general and electrical specifications.
- Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Familiarity with system-specific materials, components, and systems.
- Basic knowledge of high mathematics relative to the work.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical ability to solve complex problems.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of REVIT is desired.
- Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent experience.
- 3 years of on-the-job experience as a Mechanical Engineer/Designer or Electrical Engineer/Designer for building systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD and Revit producing construction documents for commercial building projects or retail projects.
- Knowledge of engineering calculations.
