Job Description
The Honeywell Aerospace Lighting Center of Excellence is seeking a Senior Advanced Electrical Design Engineer. This role is pivotal in leading and executing electrical design activities for the development of solid-state exterior aircraft lighting that utilizes high-power LEDs, switch-mode power supply topologies, and microprocessor controls. Additionally, the engineer will be responsible for troubleshooting existing products both in the field and on the production line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Create robust designs that meet cost and schedule targets while ensuring manufacturability, reliability, and maintainability for major aircraft operators.
- Electrical Design & Analysis: Direct and conduct electrical design and analysis through calculations, simulations, and prototyping to support design approaches and proposed product specifications.
- Data Item Preparation: Direct the preparation of customer-required electrical data items such as Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA), derating analyses, and circuit tolerance analyses.
- Prototyping & Testing: Oversee the production of prototypes and mock-ups, and conduct or supervise verification/margin testing to validate design concepts.
- Collaboration: Work within a multidisciplinary team composed of engineers, designers, technicians, program management, and production staff to optimize time and resource utilization.
- Supplier Assessment: Assist in evaluating and selecting relevant suppliers and vendors along with their products.
- Customer Interface: Communicate with customers regarding the electrical requirements and specifications of lighting products.
- Cost Estimation: Lead cost estimates for components and systems, ensuring Design to Unit Product Cost (DTUPC) targets are met.
- Product Line Oversight: Work across multiple product lines, including aircraft interior, exterior lighting, and electro-mechanical lighting products
In addition to a competitive salary, leading-edge work, and developing solutions side-by-side with dedicated experts in their fields, Honeywell employees are eligible for a comprehensive benefits package. This package includes employer subsidized Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance; Short-Term and Long-Term Disability; 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, EAP, and Educational Assistance; Parental Leave, Paid Time Off (for vacation, personal business, sick time, and parental leave), and 12 Paid Holidays.
