Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems located in Palmdale, CA has an opening for a Subsystems Design Engineer or Principal Subsystems Design Engineer .
The selected candidate will perform Subsystems design support on ECS, Fuel, Powerplant, Landing Gear, Harness, and Hydraulic installations. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA and is assigned to a 1st shift 9/80 work schedule.
The selected candidate will become part of the Subsystems Design Engineering team within the Vehicle Engineering IPT and responsibilities include:
Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and consistent with program objectives while keeping the statement of work and design requirements in focus.
Coordination and clear communication with other disciplines, customer, and suppliers during the development of design solutions.
Concise presentation and explanation of system design issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
Development and review of completed models, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications for a Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 0 years of related experience
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Engineer include a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Aerospace structural design OR an MS degree in STEM with 3 years of related experience OR a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience
Experience in a combination of Environmental Control (ECS), Fuel, Powerplant, Landing Gear, Harness, and Hydraulic installations.
Proficient in use of CATIA V5 (2D and 3D) R26 (or higher) and Team Center (Unified and Enterprise). Must be able to develop 3D CATIA Product Models, parts, and assemblies. Tasking will include design development of supports, LRU trays, cabling, and zone installation models. Must be familiar with cable routing techniques and requirements. Need to be familiar with use of CATIA Electrical Workbench to develop and route cables. Will be generating 2D Drawings, so must understand normal drafting practices in accordance with ASME Y14.5. CATIA Models and Drawings will be saved and managed through Team Center Unified, so must be familiar with using CATIA to Team Center Unified interface. Must possess understanding of drawing trees and indentured parts lists.
This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access (Program Special access not required to start)
Preferred Qualifications:
Secret or Top Secret clearance preferred.
5 years or more Aerospace Subsystems design experience using CATIA V5.
Experience working on Special Access Programs
Experience working on military aircraft and MRB experience
