JOB OPPORTUNITY Engineer/Project Engineer (Planning and Development)
Are you passionate about public infrastructure and utility engineering? Alderwood Water & Wastewater District (AWWD) , the largest special purpose water and wastewater district in Washington State, is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineer to play a key role in the development and planning programs.
AWWDs service area is a rapidly developing and diverse community that covers multiple land use jurisdictions. The successful candidate will work with AWWD staff, the development community, and our partner agencies to assure system extensions are cost effective, built to last and to meet the long-term needs of AWWD.
The planning and development engineering position will provide engineering and technical support to the workgroup. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the engineering and construction elements of development, including easements and standards development. Knowledge and experience with land use planning as well as the operation and maintenance of a water utility is highly desirable. This role will best be served by a knowledgeable professional who is a team builder and practices effective leadership and mentorship.
Ideal candidates will have excellent communication skills and will regularly interact with a wide variety of our customers, consultants and partners, including neighboring city and district staff and managers, county and state staff, as well as AWWDs own management and Board. This individual will need to be able to enforce standards while simultaneously building cooperative relationships with other agencies, developers, and the public. The planning and development engineer should be someone that will approach their work with integrity and treat others fairly and consistently.

Annual Salary:
The pay range for this position is dependent on classification and qualifications. The successful candidate will be appointed to the classification that most closely aligns with their experience.
Project Engineer: $121,659.20 - $163,072.00
Engineer: $106,267.20 - $142,438.40
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field
Strong communication skills to engage with diverse teams, stakeholders, and community members.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington State.
For the Project Engineer Classification: Four years of progressively responsible civil (or related) engineering experience as a PE.
For the Engineer Classification: Three years of civil (or related) engineering.
