Our client, a leading company in the electrical manufacturing sector, is seeking a highly accountable and experienced Project Engineer . This role is responsible for managing all engineering and technical disciplines related to assigned projects. The Project Engineer will plan, schedule, forecast, resource, and oversee all technical activities from project conception through to completion ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance at each stage.
Key Responsibilities Design & Development-
Create detailed electrical schematics, layouts, and diagrams for power distribution and control systems

Design electrical control circuits and bus bar systems

Select and specify electrical components; generate and maintain project Bill of Materials (BOM)

Components include switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, VFD controls, ATS, HVAC systems, relays, power supplies, and transformers
-
Build and test prototypes of electrical systems to validate designs
-
Conduct thorough testing for performance, reliability, and compatibility
-
Troubleshoot and resolve issues during design or production phases
-
Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to determine project requirements
-
Coordinate engineering tasks with other departments to ensure integrated system performance
-
Monitor project timelines, budgets, and personnel performance; report on project status regularly
-
Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and regulations (NEC, UL, IEC, IEEE)
-
Collaborate with third-party teams to achieve required certifications
-
Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and engineering best practices
-
Prepare detailed technical documents, reports, and manuals
-
Maintain accurate records of design updates, testing outcomes, and project milestones
-
Prepare cost and progress reports for leadership and stakeholders
-
Communicate with clients to understand and interpret project needs
-
Represent the client in field settings when required
-
Provide technical support during installation and post-deployment troubleshooting
-
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and enhance system performance
-
Stay informed on new technologies and industry trends
-
Propose and implement innovative solutions and best practices
-
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) OR 10 years of experience in electrical engineering
-
3 years of experience in electrical equipment manufacturing
-
3 years of working knowledge in electrical engineering principles, circuits, and systems
-
3 years of experience with NEC, UL, IEC, IEEE standards
-
3 years of experience with AutoCAD, EPLAN, or other electrical design tools
-
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
-
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-
Effective communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams
-
Adaptability to evolving project requirements and deadlines
-
Must reside in the Greater Houston Area
-
Ability to pass a physical, drug screening, background, and driving check
-
Must be able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including stooping, standing, or walking for extended periods

Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

3 years of design or similar engineering experience

Experience with SKM or ETAP electrical simulation software
-
Knowledge of sustainable and energy-efficient design practices

Familiarity with specialized industry applications (e.g., energy, mining, food processing, power plant substations, data centers)
