Utility Engineering Technician

Large utility is looking for an Utility Engineering Technician in Jackson, MI. An Engineering Technician with an associate degree and 2-4 years of technician experience is responsible for supporting utility system projects through CAD design, field operations, invoice tracking, and cross-department coordination, requiring skills in CAD software, MS applications, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation. responsibilities:

• Coordinate with engineering and design teams on various projects.
• Assist with process and change management across departments.
• Create purchase requisitions and track engineering service invoices.
• Forecast invoice expenses for engineering services.
• Participate in learning and development with senior engineer mentorship.
• Conduct field visits and assist field operations when necessary.
• Provide support for engineering designs, inspections, plans, surveys, and reports.
• Interpret standards, specifications, and maps for project execution.
• Maintain and configure infrastructure to support utility needs.
• Generate specialized reports and support system customization.
• Meet with third-party vendors and contractors for feedback and compliance.
• Read and apply utility industry standards and technical documents.

Skills:

• Proficient in CAD and MS Windows applications.
• Basic understanding of utility operations.
• strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
• Effective written/verbal communication and technical writing.
• Good interpersonal skills.

Education and Experience:

• Associate Degree in technical or engineering field.
• 2-4 years experience performing technician-related work.
