Large utility is looking for an Utility Engineering Technician in Jackson, MI. An Engineering Technician with an associate degree and 2-4 years of technician experience is responsible for supporting utility system projects through CAD design, field operations, invoice tracking, and cross-department coordination, requiring skills in CAD software, MS applications, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation. responsibilities:
- Coordinate with engineering and design teams on various projects.
- Assist with process and change management across departments.
- Create purchase requisitions and track engineering service invoices.
- Forecast invoice expenses for engineering services.
- Participate in learning and development with senior engineer mentorship.
- Conduct field visits and assist field operations when necessary.
- Provide support for engineering designs, inspections, plans, surveys, and reports.
- Interpret standards, specifications, and maps for project execution.
- Maintain and configure infrastructure to support utility needs.
- Generate specialized reports and support system customization.
- Meet with third-party vendors and contractors for feedback and compliance.
- Read and apply utility industry standards and technical documents.
- Proficient in CAD and MS Windows applications.
- Basic understanding of utility operations.
- strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Effective written/verbal communication and technical writing.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Associate Degree in technical or engineering field.
- 2-4 years experience performing technician-related work.
