Position Title
Project Engineer, Transportation
T. Baker Smith is seeking a Project Engineer for the Transportation group of our Engineering Discipline. The ideal candidate will be responsible for tasks associated with project execution for transportation projects as well as working effectively within a team setting.
Position Purpose
Plans, designs, and directs engineering projects. This is a technical position involved in nonroutine and complex assignments. The Project Engineer works with the Project Manager and Lead Professional to develop design concepts which are incorporated into the project. The Project Engineer may handle some project management tasks but will primarily work on technical aspects.
Your Opportunity
Lead or Assist Technical Tasks on Projects
Participate in project planning, including preparation of scope, schedule, and budget.
Lead or assist in technical roadway and bridge design projects and associated effortsincluding roadway geometric design, stormwater drainage, and bridge design.
Develop Project Deliverables
Prepare or modify construction plans and quantity estimates and develop roadway models.
Prepare or modify reports, calculations, plans, and designs.
Review work of project team to assure quality control and compliance with firm standards.
Collaborate with Project Team
Collaborate and learn from experienced licensed engineers and industry leaders in Transportation.
Attends project, client, and public meetings.
Participate in proposal efforts.
Mentor and potentially supervise team members, including young engineer interns and/or project technicians.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
Louisiana licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Minimum of 5 years of experience. Prior relevant experience preferred.
Ability to operate computer aided drafting and other applications, spreadsheets, and other business software. Experience in Bentley MicroStation, InRoads, or OpenRoads preferred.
Ability to clearly communicate and relate to clients and associates at all levels of the organization.
