Job Description
Citronix designs and manufactures printers to apply identification marks such as best before dates, logos and batch codes to almost any kind of material for a wide range of industrial sectors. These products are sold exclusively through a network of distributors in Americas, Europe, Middle East & Africa and Asia Pacific. The company, which is wholly owned by a successful UK-based business, has ~30 employees and is based in Arlington, Texas.
The production engineer assists in the development and organization of production operations. They develop a successful workflow, adapt to changing conditions, and develop new equipment, procedures, and policies to increase efficiency in all operations. This professional must use analytical thinking to introduce new innovations to production processes. The production engineer also oversees operations to ensure that employees and equipment comply with safety regulations, identifies cost-saving opportunities, troubleshoots machinery, and reports all deficiencies to upper management. Additionally, this professional will assist in smooth development and launch production for new products. The production engineer drives continuous improvement of supplier quality and reliability, along with cost reduction efforts.
Job Responsibilities:
- Updates work instructions for production processes and individual products and perform audits to confirm documents.
- Will oversee production planning.
- Create and maintain production employee schedule and sustain/modify as necessary.
- Training new associates in the production area.
- Assist with Failure Mode Analysis activities.
- Assist with production area design, equipment and tooling needs, process layout and other items in support of manufacturing strategy.
- Champion Continuous Improvement efforts. This includes reducing assembly times, suggesting cost reduction strategies, and improving quality.
- Complete time studies, review production methods and implement changes to minimize errors and improve efficiency.
- Coordinate all applicable product testing verification and ongoing validation to meet product specifications and assist in root cause exercises.
- Works with Purchasing teams, ensuring continuous improvement of supplier quality and reliability.
- May be asked to act as line supervisor on day-to-day activities.
- Champion health and safety tasks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Process, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience
- Background with various inspection and measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with blueprints, shop drawings, technical documents/procedures.
- Strong communication skills and proven abilities to effectively present information and respond to managers and customers.
- Experience with Continuous Improvement tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S
- Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail
- Excellent organization, communication, and follow-up skills
- Able to influence others & manage conflict
- Ability to self-direct and take constructive action in ambiguous situations
- Working knowledge with CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD desirable.
- Health and safety experience is desirable.
KPI
- Keep all assembly procedures updated
- Develop skills training and testing for all assembly associates
- Create and maintain failure mode analysis for internal assembly
- Work with purchasing and engineering to achieve 5% cost reduction annually
- Ensure that all engineering changes are incorporated into the production line in a timely manner
- Reduce out of box failures to less than 5%, with goal of less than 1%
