The Lead Engineer will oversee the Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) and ensure the effective creation of assigned products. Responsibilities include coordinating team activities and collaborating closely with various departments such as Electrical and Electromagnetic Design, Mechanical Design/Drafting, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and Marketing.
The Lead Engineer will lead the engineering projects for the sensor products team, focusing on New Product Development (NPD). This role entails leading initiatives for temperature sensors, temperature probes, and other advanced sensors that are not temperature-based.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Overall ownership and accountability of assigned NPD projects from launch through production
Meet all project deliverables and schedule deadlines including hardware, testing, analysis and documentation.
Prepare design & analysis reports and lead design reviews for assigned projects
Act as the primary technical customer point of contact for assigned projects
Review drawings and have a strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Review all design results to ensure completeness and accuracy
Develop and implement standard design practices from lessons learned
Interpret and clarify customer technical expectations
Work with the Development Team to meet internal unit cost and develop cost targets
Define and maintain technical compliance to customer requirements
Write technical proposals and present technical information to customers
Lead cost reduction efforts and track progress
Resolution of field issues
Factory support
Provide technical guidance and support to team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Act as a mentor to junior engineers and team members, offering coaching, career development advice, and technical expertise to help them grow professionally.
Facilitate knowledge sharing and skill development within the team to build a strong pipeline of future leaders.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives and encourage team members to adopt best practices and innovative solutions.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or high school diploma/GED with at least 7 years of Engineering experience)
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience
This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government contract restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Citizens. GE will require proof of status prior to employment.
Desired Characteristics
Advanced degree would be a plus
Ability to influence and seamlessly work cross-functionally in a matrix organization
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customer organizations, including upper management.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
The base pay range for this position is $90,800 - $110,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary/commission based on the plan. This posting is expected to close on July 11, 2025.
