- Design and prepare plans, calculations, and specifications for transportation structures, including highway bridges, retaining walls, box culverts, and other miscellaneous structures per AASHTO and ODOT requirements.
- Provide analysis and load rating for existing structures, recommending improvement and strengthening strategies through knowledge and application of appropriate specifications, standards, and design criteria.
- Collaborate with professionals from various departments and disciplines and discuss requirements with clients to execute projects.
- Perform work as part of a team or as a task/project manager, adhering to project budget and schedule limitations under moderate supervision.
- Prepare engineering cost estimates, scope of work documents, and proposals, assisting other Project/Task Managers with similar duties.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance to the project team to ensure quality technical services.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with quality control standards and client requirements.
- Participate in occasional site visits to construction sites and remote outdoor work environments.
- Engage in occasional travel to client meetings and site visits, possibly involving overnight stays.
- Identify and win new business opportunities to expand market presence in Ohio.
- Independently evaluate, select, and adapt standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Develop plans, specifications, and other project documents.
- Select appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in complex engineering problems.
- Design and bridge engineering expertise.
- Project management skills.
- Civil engineering proficiency.
- Experience with OpenRoads and MicroStation software.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio.
- 10+ years of experience in bridge engineering, design, or project management.
- Extensive experience with ODOT projects and standards.
- Prior relationships and name recognition within ODOT.
- Ability to identify and win new projects to grow market presence in Ohio.
- Capability to mentor staff and perform quality assurance.
