Job Summary

This position assists with the development and implementation of cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications, safety guidelines and quality standards. Monitors and analyzes equipment for manufacturing processes, methods, and controls. Assists with the development of new manufacturing processes/products along with ensuring a safe and compliant work environment for all new and existing equipment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides assistance in daily monitoring of manufacturing processes to ensure that quality and productivity standards are maintained and improved.
  • Set up and/or review required bill of materials needed to produce advanced composite materials.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot processing problems quick and timely resolution.
  • Provides technical assistance to all manufacturing and test laboratory departments.
  • Assist with development of process operating parameters of equipment and monitor true run conditions of the composite prepreg material.
  • Assists with performing development activities for new products on the plant equipment and resolving any quality and safety related issues.
  • Assists with management of specific engineering related projects and/or capital projects that are focused on improving business processes.
  • Create engineering work orders in order to execute engineering test plans for screening or qualification.
  • Daily monitoring of the progress of qualification programs in regards to panel lay-up, specimen cutting, tabbing and testing.

Other Job Duties

  • Assists with the design, development, testing, and justification of costs related to various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods.
  • Provides technical support of new processing methods and equipment, including the identification of manufacturing limits, creating standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training.
  • Other duties as required.

Education/Experience/Skills Required

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering Required.
  • 3+ years Manufacturing or Process Engineering experience is preferred or an entry level candidate with relevant experience and education will be considered.
  • Well developed skills in statistical analysis and design of experiments.
  • Proficiency in computer software application (MS Office, Oracle, CAD).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in composite materials manufacturing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CMH-17/ MILHNDBK-17, ASTM and SACMA test methods.
  • Experience with material characterization testing of Composite materials including A and B basis calculation methodology.
  • Familiarity with FAA certification procedures along with AGATE and NCAMP test methodologies is desirable.
