Mechanical Engineer

A Mechanical Engineer is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world's leading innovators in materials science in the Corning, NY area. A Senior Mechanical Design Engineer leads the design and implementation of precision motion systems and tooling, providing hands-on support from concept through installation in a collaborative, cross-functional manufacturing environment.

responsibilities:

• Develop detailed mechanical designs for precision motion systems and custom precision tooling.
  
  
• Manage all aspects of mechanical equipment: design, build, vendor engagement, and troubleshooting.
  
  
• Provide on-site mechanical support for equipment installation, startup, and debugging.
  
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, controls, facilities, IT, and operations.
  
  
• Conduct design verification, check layouts against drawings, and troubleshoot discrepancies.
  
  
• Independently determine engineering approaches and problem-solving strategies.
  
  
• Coordinate with internal engineers and external vendors to resolve equipment issues.

Skills:

• Apply principles from mechanics, hydraulics, thermodynamics, metallurgy, and machine design.
  
  
• Use SolidWorks for mechanical design work.
  
  
• Perform structural FEA analysis to validate designs.
  
  
• Ensure designs are robust and suitable for manufacturing environments.
  
  
• Expertise in precision engineering and motion system design.
  
  
• strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  
  
• Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  
  
• Comfortable working in diverse, collaborative team settings.

Experience: 10+ years of mechanical equipment design experience.
