This Key Team Leader manages all aspects of the design process, from research to conceptual and final design, and through construction. This position provides on-the-job training to enhance the core competence of team members. This position leads project teams towards successful adoption of new design ideas and possesses a strong mastery of design fundamentals. This position is expected to be able to work on multiple projects concurrently and deliver on expectations within tight deadlines. In addition to leading a team of engineers and technical professionals, this position will also be actively involved in professional associations and community organizations as Pape-Dawson continues building partnerships within the community we serve.

This position is responsible for a wide variety of transportation related projects that may include schematic development; urban and rural roadway design; freeway and interchange design; hydraulics and hydrology; signalization; rights of way coordination and management; and public safety improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams to accomplish task assignments in accordance with federal, state and local guidelines

  • Provide guidance and direction to project design team for various tasks within the scope of a project including training and supervising project team

  • Lead multi-discipline consultant teams in project development and design

  • Develop innovative design techniques, tools, and project delivery methods

  • Present new ideas and techniques to clients and stakeholders

  • Manage project budget and schedule; monitor quality control methods

  • Proposal development, project scoping, and client relationship development

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, or computer-generated reports.

  • Provide technical direction or supervision to junior engineers, engineering or computer-aided design (CAD) technicians, or other technical personnel.

  • Attend design review meetings and interact with clients

Providing leadership in these daily activities, among others, will continue the Pape-Dawson vision of becoming the most respected engineering firm in our geographic and technical areas of practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in civil or transportation engineering from an ABET accredited college or university.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Georgia or the ability to obtain in 6 months.

  • 15 years multi-discipline experience in roadway design and PS&E.

  • GDOT experience preferred.

  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with all levels of employees in an organization.

  • Self-starter capable of completing tasks with minimal oversight.

  • High level of accuracy in work product.

  • Ability to technically develop members of project team.
