Purpose:

This individual will be part of the Technical Operations group, supporting the Enabling Technologies platform. This platform is responsible for robotics, powered handpieces, and other hardware and software technologies enabling our businesses in Joint Reconstruction, Spine, and Trauma.

The Electrical Engineer will provide support for the development and production of robotics and electromechanical devices. This role involves troubleshooting, optimizing electrical systems, and ensuring efficient manufacturing operations while maintaining high product quality standards.

You will be responsible for:

  • Engaging with the R&D team in the development of sophisticated electrical and electronic designs including design-for-manufacture/assembly/test/service/cost activities
  • Interacting with external supplier and manufacturers of electronic and electromechanical devices and components
  • Provide day-to-day electrical engineering support for the production of robotic and electromechanical devices.
  • Collaborate with production teams to resolve electrical issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  • Analyze electrical production processes and systems to find opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement solutions to enhance production efficiency, reliability, and safety.
  • Ensure that all electrical components and systems meet quality assurance standards and align with safety regulations.
  • Assist in conducting quality control checks and audits to maintain product integrity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of electrical systems, incidents, and resolutions to aid in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports detailing troubleshooting efforts, system performance, and improvement recommendations.
  • Support engineering teams in the implementation of new production processes and technologies related to electrical systems.

Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) required, MS/PhD preferred

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • 7 years of experience with BS or equivalent, 5 years with MS, or 3 years with PhD
  • Experienced in ISO9001/13485, or medical device manufacturing environment.
  • Methodical and comprehensive, yet flexible and able to easily adjust to evolving requirements and navigate in a fast-paced environment to meet tight schedules.
  • Experience testing devices that cross functional areas, including mechanical, electrical, embedded firmware etc.

Preferred:

  • 5+ years electrical engineering experience with surgical products preferred.
  • New product introduction desirable. Robotics knowledge a plus.

  • Up to 10% travel, domestic and international required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :

91,000.00 - 165,000.00 USD Annual

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation's performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company's discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
