Generac Clean Energy Solutions seeks an experienced, capable Staff Electrical Engineer to contribute to product development for a rapidly growing family of clean energy products produced through an international network of contract manufacturers.

The Staff Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that new and upgraded products meet design specifications and customer needs across a broad range of applications and operating conditions. They will work closely with leaders in Product Management, Product Development, Operations, and Core Engineering groups, and will communicate design decisions and results for rapid feedback and continuous improvement.

This position is based in Santa Monica, California .

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to and participate in the creation of new and upgraded product designs.
  • Design and review schematics to fulfill documented Product Requirements and Specifications.
  • Perform or support PCB layout for your design responsibilities.
  • Select, specify, and test components necessary to support the design; create costed Bills of Materials to meet cost targets.
  • Perform and support design verification analyses such as circuit simulation, DFMEA, design margin, derating, and reliability.
  • Develop and manage project schedules in alignment with program goals.
  • Plan and execute Design Validation Testing for new designs and revisions.
  • Support product integration and system-level testing.
  • Lead and participate in Design Reviews for new designs and revisions, including DFM and DFT considerations.
  • Create and contribute to technical documentation such as installation guides, user manuals, data sheets, and application notes.
  • Support and occasionally lead certification and compliance testing with NRTLs.
  • Provide product support to technical teams, operations, and manufacturing partners.
  • Investigate and analyze returned products to identify and correct root causes.
  • Review and implement Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of industry experience in electronic product design and development.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience designing analog circuits , including:
    • Operational amplifiers (op-amps)
    • Sensor interface circuits
    • FET drive circuits
  • Proven track record of analog circuit design in production hardware environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with power electronics and energy systems.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium).
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, reliability, and risk analysis.
  • Knowledge of grid interconnection and renewable energy systems.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.).
  • Exposure to certification/testing standards (e.g., UL, IEC).
  • Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts.

Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
