Key Responsibilities:
The Molding Project Manager is responsible for overseeing molding projects from quotation through qualification, ensuring successful project execution, and driving continuous improvement in molding processes.
This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of molding projects, including mold quotes, process cost estimation, mold bill management, design reviews, and schedule maintenance.
The Molding Project Manager will collaborate closely with Molding Manufacturing Engineers, Mold Technicians, and other cross-functional teams to develop new processes and resolve production issues, providing hands-on support as necessary to ensure high-quality results.
Oversee molding projects from quotation through qualification, including mold quotes, process cost estimation, and managing the mold bill process.
Manage the entire molding project lifecycle from DFM (Design for Manufacturability) through mold design reviews, ensuring alignment with project goals, customer requirements, and timelines.
Coordinate project schedules, resources, and communications to ensure project milestones are met on time and within budget.
Lead process development efforts for new projects and provide support for ongoing production through troubleshooting and collaboration with Molding Manufacturing Engineers and Mold Technicians.
Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring that all aspects of the project are executed to specification and quality standards.
Work closely with design, engineering, and tooling teams to ensure that mold designs meet customer requirements, process capabilities, and cost targets.
Manage project risks, making timely decisions to address issues that arise during the molding process.
Support hands-on troubleshooting and process optimization to resolve production issues, ensuring that molding operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance molding process capabilities, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in injection molding, compression molding, or composite molding environments.
3+ years of experience in project management with a proven track record of delivering complex technical projects.
Strong knowledge of molding processes, including mold design, material selection, process optimization, and cost estimation.
Proficiency with CAD tools, project management software, and ERP systems.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and collaborate with teams across functions to achieve project goals.
Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and resolving molding process issues.
PMP certification is a plus.
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and industrial materials.
Must be able to occasionally travel to vendors, customers, or other company sites.
