Nature and Scope
The Director of Engineering is responsible for managing all capital engineering projects including facility and equipment upgrades across all American Regent Ohio locations. This position also oversees key operational functions including facilities, housekeeping, landscaping, security, and pest control. The Director ensures all activities maintain GMP compliance and align with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal regulations. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and experience operating in a highly regulated faced paced, GMP-compliant environment. The Director will lead and manage both internal teams and external contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes efficiently and safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Lead all engineering related capital projects across all Ohio sites including project scope, budget and timelines.
- Plan, direct and coordinate all engineering functions for OH facilities, laboratories, warehousing, and manufacturing operations.
- Oversee facility planning, space allocation and expansions projects. Perform cost analysis and research facility alternatives.
- Review projects, develop RFPs, conduct bidding, review quotes, and oversee installations. Establish work plans and staffing for each phase of project and review status on an ongoing basis.
- Lead and Manage facility support services including, custodial operations, security, grounds keeping activities including landscaping and snow removal.
- Ensure all facilities remain clean and orderly.
- Ensure 24-hour support and emergency response for all critical building systems. Ensure reliability of all equipment and utility support systems
- Coordinate with Local Police, Fire Department and Emergency Responders during any emergency.
- Position has responsibilities at multiple locations in central Ohio.
- Ability to travel up to 10% to other American Regent sites or equipment vendors as needed.
- Mentor and develop engineering team. Develop and implement Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for members of the engineering team.
- Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management.
Education Requirements and Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
- Bachelors degree in engineering: mechanical, chemical or electrical required. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience, including at least 10 years in progressively senior leadership roles within a pharmaceutical or GMP-regulated environment required.
- Minimum of 10 years experience managing both internal teams and external contractors in a collaborative, team-oriented environment required.
- Demonstrated experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering projects from concept through commissioning.
- Experience managing complex multi-discipline engineering projects related to building and equipment installation projects from concept to final commissioning.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, process water, fire suppression, PLC, and structural systems.
- Strong oral and written communication skills including preparing and delivering presentations to members of the Executive team.
- Proficiency in MS Office programs; AutoCAD and Microsoft Project Management a plus.
- Knowledge of telecommunications systems, modern security systems.
Physical Environment and Requirements
- Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including but not limited to gowning, goggles, face shields, and protective gloves. PPE is essential for the health and safety of employees.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
