Summary

Lincoln Electric has an outstanding opportunity for a Mechanical CAD Engineering Technologist based at our Euclid operations. The Mechanical CAD Engineering Technologist plays a key role supporting our Plant Engineering department, which is responsible for designing, maintaining, improving, and supporting the equipment, manufacturing processes, and plant-wide infrastructure. The Mechanical CAD Engineering Technologist is responsible for 3D modeling and drafting of equipment to support Plant Engineering and the groups it serves. The Mechanical CAD Engineering Technologist is expected to independently develop or modify designs, create manufacturing drawings, check and correct drawings created by other users, assist in teaching and enforcing drawing standards and engineering best practices, assist with lifecycle workflows, and collaborate with internal customers on up to medium size engineering design projects.

Job Description
  • Independently create and modify 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings to support Plant Engineering and cross-departmental projects. The scope of these will range from championing your own projects, to contributing to large capital equipment installations with thousands of parts.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and internal / external fabricators to resolve manufacturing issues and update documentation accordingly.
  • Perform reverse engineering of components from physical parts, machinery, and legacy drawings, ensuring compliance with engineering and manufacturability standards.
  • Assist in managing CAD files within a PDM/PLM system, with potential to grow into a CAD Administrator role.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of CAD templates, engineering standards, and material/hardware libraries.
  • Review and enforce adherence to CAD best practices and Plant Engineering standards, providing one-on-one feedback and guidance to users.
  • Generate supporting files for internal and external fabrication, including .DXF, .PDF, and .STP formats.
  • Document existing production equipment and facility support systems.
  • Respond to company-wide requests for drafting support and 3D model scanning.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support team goals and evolving company strategies.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology degree (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) with 3+ years professional drafting experience -OR- Associates degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial) with 5 years professional drafting experience and 10 years in a related field.
  • Skilled in at least one 3D CAD platformSolid Edge, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Siemens NX.
  • Strong knowledge and discipline in basic dimensioning, GD&T, and design for manufacturability for machined and welded components.
  • Experience with PLM/PDM systems such as TeamCenter or Vault.
  • Proficient in using micrometers, calipers , and other precision measurement instruments.
  • Familiarity with machine shop environments and metal fabrication processes.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and generally adept at computer applications and hardware.
  • Eager to develop advanced 3D CAD drafting and detail drawing skills.
  • Able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and self-driven.
  • Comfortable working independently and within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
  • Willing and able to work on the production floor to gather measurements and develop design concepts.
  • Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and solving design challenges.
