Job Description

As a Commissioning Engineering Technician, you will work individually and as part of a team to support capital projects and implement innovative solutions. Your role will involve helping clients make essential changes to enhance their performance and achieve their most important objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work schedules and manpower forecasts for owner's operations technicians.
  • Manage and track commissioning constraints and deficiencies affecting the schedule or quality of Basebuild utility systems post-construction installation.
  • Integrate construction and design schedules with commissioning activities.
  • Provide reports and updates on schedule and quality metrics.
  • Conduct system and facility engineering job walk assessments.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause failure analysis on assigned projects.
  • Train suppliers in the owner's commissioning software systems and manage their access.
  • Interface effectively with engineering design team members and client representatives.
Essential Skills
  • 2+ years of experience in commissioning or construction for I&C or Electrical Basebuild systems in the Advanced Technology sector.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation, PLC5, and Control Logix hardware and software.
  • Experience with multi-discipline large capital projects involving Owners, General Contractors, Contractors, and System Integrators.
  • Proficient understanding of Design/Build (Engineering and Construction).
  • Strong understanding of complex process systems architecture and design, Instrumentation, Device Selection, Networking, PLC & I/O architectures, P&IDs, data sheets, and SCADA.
  • Working knowledge of environments common in large industrial applications such as Dry/Wet Mechanical, AWN, Gas/Chem Distribution, HVAC, and Clean Room environmental control.
  • Proficient in written and verbal technical communication, including generating reports and conducting group presentations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering, or a similar technical field is preferred.
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in electrical, mechanical, or control systems engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with control systems in a data center or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in control systems programming and configuration.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and building automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with various control system platforms; BMS (Building Management Systems) or SCADA is a plus.
  • Experience conducting I/O checkouts.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to work.
Work Environment

The role is onsite in Reno, with a work schedule of 50 hours per week. Per Diem is included.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.00/hr.
