THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a Sr. Electrical Project Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organizing, and completion of capital projects.
You will provide technical assistance to the operating departments to help them achieve the mills goals and objectives while driving continuous process improvement. Manages all phases of capital and expense projects from inception through final project. The Project Engineer will support all Mill goals such as safety, environmental, quality assurance, cost, and budgets. The Project Engineer will outline project requirements, assign tasks, and supervise progress to ensure that project objectives are being met.
The successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a manufacturing environment and manage capital projects, maintenance projects, and reliability improvement initiatives.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT SMURFIT WESTROCK:
- Manage all phases of capital projects from inception through equipment installation and start-up.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates and schedules.
- Develop and/or manage the preparation of drawings for assigned projects by working with engineering firms, vendors, and mill personnel.
- Coordinate all types of design activities including equipment sizing, P&IDs, piping, structural, electrical and process control.
- Review detailed engineering drawings developed by vendors and engineering consultants.
- Ensure project design and implementation abides by mill safety and environmental policies.
- Conduct project design review meetings
- Manage the direction of consultants, contractors, and maintenance work associated with assigned capital and repair projects.
- Coordinate and supervise construction and startup activities with project teams, Maintenance, and Operations.
- Control project costs by monitoring expenditures to ensure projects are completed within budget and schedule.
- Provide accurate capital and expense cash flow forecasts.
- Assure all project drawings, documents, equipment information, manuals, etc. become part of the Engineering Document Control System.
- Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, management, and other project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
- Provide technical assistance and electrical engineering expertise to Operations and Maintenance departments to help resolve various operating or maintenance issues.
- Support and promote usage of the Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process, Pareto charting, the use of equipment histories to further reduce variability, improve quality, reduce cost and/or enhance reliability.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering.
- Five or more years of experience in an electrical engineering role in industrial manufacturing with Pulp & Paper experience preferred but not required
- Strong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to evaluate data and make decisions to drive process improvements
- Proven track record of leadership and collaboration within cross functional teams
- Project management experience, PMP Certification a plus but not required
- Drafting and CAD (AutoCAD) training/experience a plus
