As a Senior Project Manager in hydraulic and hydrology engineering, you will lead complex water resource projects for federal and non-federal clients across the United States. In this role, you will integrate your deep technical expertise with proven leadership and business development skills to manage project execution, client relations, and growth initiatives. You will provide oversight across all project phasesfrom feasibility studies through design, construction, and final reportingensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

More About This Role

  • Project Management: Direct the planning, coordination, and execution of complex water resource infrastructure projects such as lock and dam rehabilitation, dam and levee safety modifications, flood control, and environmental restoration. Manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and contracts, including architectural/engineering task orders and as needed engineering during construction oversight.
  • Design: Lead and oversee engineering analyses and design activities to support a variety of water resource infrastructure projects. This includes hydraulic and hydrology evaluations such as flow dynamics, stormwater management, flood risk assessments, drainage systems, and water conveyance structures. Additionally, provide expertise in general civil engineering disciplines including structural, geotechnical, and civil design tasks to develop innovative and effective engineering solutions that meet project requirements and regulatory standards. Conduct technical reviews and ensure design quality across multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects such as dams, levees, locks, pump stations, and related water resource facilities.
  • Levee and Dam Safety Management: Oversee levee and dam safety programs, including inspections, risk assessments, emergency action plans, and regulatory compliance. Manage program budgets and contracts and provide leadership to technical teams focused on dam and levee safety.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue new project opportunities leveraging extensive networks. Engage with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions. Lead proposal efforts and represent the company at industry events and conferences.
  • Leadership and Staff Development: Supervise and mentor engineering teams, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing environment. Implement workload distribution strategies and organizational improvements to enhance efficiency and staff development.
  • Stakeholder and Client Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders to facilitate project approvals and ensure alignment with objectives.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Support recruitment strategies to attract top engineering talent. Drive organizational improvements in quality, supervision, and communication. Serve as a subject matter expert and consultant on navigation and hydraulic engineering matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field; Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • At least twenty ears of relevant experience with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers or equivalent, including senior leadership roles in hydraulic design, dam and levee safety, and engineering and construction divisions.
  • Extensive experience managing large engineering teams and complex projects involving hydraulic and hydrology design, construction oversight, and safety programs.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and make independent decisions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated experience engaging effectively with clients, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, project documentation tools, and technical design software.
  • Experience working with federal agencies such as USACE is highly desirable.
