Advantage Technical is currently seeking a Research and Development Engineer for an onsite position in the Minneapolis, MN area. This role is integral to the new product development initiatives and offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic R&D team comprising approximately 10 cross-functional professionals.

This is a key role in an R&D initiative that supports the early-phase development of a long-term strategic project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of embolic coil devices, ensuring performance, safety, and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles to create high-precision, minimally invasive therapeutic devices.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive product development plans, including design iterations, prototyping, and preclinical testing.
  • Design and manage the design of experiments (DOE) and validation protocols to support product feasibility and optimization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including research and development, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, clinical, and marketing, to align product strategy with business objectives.
  • Translate complex engineering data into clear presentations for clinical stakeholders, project managers, and executive leadership.
  • Conduct design verification and validation testing in compliance with FDA and ISO 13485 standards.
  • Interface with interventional radiologists, neurovascular surgeons, and Cath Lab professionals to collect real-world insights and usability feedback.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and engineering technicians during various stages of development.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and competitive products in embolization and vascular intervention.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering)
  • Experience: 1+ years with MS ME or chemical engineering
