Burns is currently seeking aProject Manager II to join our Aviation team in Philadelphia, PA.
DUTIES
The duties of Project Manager II will include business development, client relationship management, financial management, planning and delivering engineering services to clients associated within the firm's Aviation Group. The Project Manager II will also under supervision, support a team of engineers, designers, and support a variety of marketing functions such as inside and outside sales, client relationship management, proposal preparation and pricing, contract negotiation, and review and reconciliation of terms and conditions. Project Manager II will also be responsible for fulfilling booked projects on time and within budget, organizational engagement and development and business development - focusing largely on expanding services for current clients such as new tasks, change orders and the like.
RESPONSIBILITIES
BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
Identify and develop plan to obtain follow-on work with existing clients.
Develop new clients
Prepare proposals and develop proposal schedules under the direction of the Group Leader
Develop scope of services, staffing and pricing
Include Burns Terms and Conditions
Meet annual sales goals
Actively participate in industry events and conferences
Maintain visibility and actively network within industry
CLIENT RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
Responsible for completion of high quality engineering projects on budget and schedule with high level of customer satisfaction
Address feedback from Client Satisfaction Survey
Know your client through Routine communication and regular visits
Establish 5 key clients that are in Acquaintance phase develop and implement plan to achieve professional peer status
Continuously confirm client requirements for project
Know the industry you are servicing by participating in technical society meetings
Attend conferences and other industry-related activities
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Responsible for up to $1.4M in annual sales and revenue
Ensure revenue write-downs for the group are no more than 3% of net revenue.
Provide accounting with guidance regarding invoice preparation and ensure invoices are prepared by 10th working day of the month.
Ensure accounts receivable are collected in timely fashion
Approve timesheets and expense reports weekly
Ensure written authorization has been received before starting work.
Maintain 30% profit multiplier and 20% sales weighting on projects managed
Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
PROJECT EXECUTION
Ensure all departmental personnel adhere to the requirements of the company QA/QC policies and procedures
Maintain a write-down percentage of 3% or less
Develop Project plans to mitigate risks
Ensure that all design documents, reports, proposals, inspections, and information required to serve the client and are properly prepared and reported
Ensure Client Schedules are met
Ensure Cost control procedures are in place and are being followed
Hold routine project meeting to review schedule, deliverables and budget
Identify, request and receive authorization for scope changes before work is executed
Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts
Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects
Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities
Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing services.
TEAM MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
Typically maintains 5-10 direct reports
Actively participate in recruiting technical staff
Motivate personnel to perform at high levels of performance
Provide mentoring and professional development opportunities for direct reports
Oversee performance and salary reviews for direct reports
Ensure employees are adequately trained and supervised
Effectively Delegate and manage workload, maintain utilization goals of direct reports
Hold all employees accountable to the same standard of performance and take corrective action when necessary
Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations
Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.
Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner
Directs department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures
Foster Morale and productive work environment
Provide feedback and recognition of individual and team achievements
EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, project management, construction management or related field plus (10) years' progressive experience in technical management, design related work products, and project management principles within the aviation industry. Experience should also include experience in project financial controls, scheduling, manpower planning and business development.
Wage range:155K-164K.
