The successful candidate is responsible for coordinating requirements and application design with customers, as well as Progress Rail Product & Project Management and Field Service Engineering.

Key Job Elements
• Coordinating requirements and application design with customers as well as Progress Rail Product & Project Management, as well as Field Service Engineering;
• Ability to design and develop multilayer circuit boards with microprocessor and controls including Impedance controlled board layout, DDR3, High-speed bus, Serial bus, i2c, Spi, etc.;
• Create Verification and Validation test plans for product development;
• Create system design requirements;
• Support Manufacturing including but not limited to:
o Troubleshooting to resolution;
o Designing in replacement for obsolete parts;
o Training if needed in Repair/Manufacturing Test;
o Design test fixtures, wire harness, and wire plans;
o Ability to review schematics and understand how the circuit works.
Education / Training
• Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum 2-5 years relevant experience in Hardware / Electrical Engineering role;
• Proven track record of success in a culture that emphasizes quality, continuous improvement, high performance, accountability and solid communication skills;
• Candidate must have initiative and a driven, high-performance work ethic;
• Candidate must work well in a high-energy team environment;
• Solid communication skills required;
• Must be comfortable with interfacing with the customer on a periodic basis.
Preferred Skills:
• 5+ years relevant experience in Hardware / Electrical Engineering role;
• 2-5 years electro-optical design experience using microbolometer and pyrometer sensors;
• 2-5 years schematic entry, circuit simulation and PCB Layout;
• Experience in the Railroad industry and Railroad electronics;
• Experience in managing mechanical shock and vibration;
• Experience in formal qualification testing (FCC, CE, UL, etc.);
• Knowledge of AREMA requirements and certification testing preferred;
• Experience with the following programs:
o Mentor Graphics PADS;
o PSpice;
o Auto CAD;
o Lab View.
