Expected salary range of $114,300 to $127,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

LOCATION

This is a remote position based in the Mid-Atlantic US. Up to 60% travel is required, to support projects concentrated in the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates must reside in the territory to best support client site visits and other travel expectations. Additionally, occasional travel to the Warrendale, PA office and other Constellation offices will be required, for in-person meetings and collaboration, as requested by leadership.

Our ideal candidate will reside in the Maryland / D.C. / Virginia area, in order to best accommodate regular travel needs.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary purpose of this position is to conduct comprehensive ASHRAE Level II and III energy audits and prepare detailed proposals for energy conservation upgrades, including thorough cost and savings analyses. The role leads and performs engineering tasks for critical or complex projects that require specialized knowledge across multiple technical areas. This includes developing preliminary designs and estimating costs and energy savings for a variety of energy conservation measures, providing technical expertise and implementation recommendations to customers. The position also involves developing large-scale lighting and water conservation projects, emphasizing auditing, specification, design, and energy calculations. It requires oversight and quality control of third-party design submissions to ensure cost reasonableness, savings accuracy, and constructability. A strong knowledge of current lighting technologies is essential to audit, design, and manage implementation across various construction types, including street and highway applications. The use of energy calculation software to assist in building modeling is also a key responsibility. Demonstrating leadership in safety is critical, including enforcing safety practices and encouraging safe work behaviors. The role involves active participation in technical and industry societies to stay current on new technologies and relevant issues. Additionally, the position implements company project control processes to ensure projects are developed according to established cost, schedule, and quality standards.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Conducts ASHRAE Level II and III energy audits and prepares detailed proposals for conservation upgrades, including cost and savings analyses. Develops preliminary designs and estimates for a range of energy measures, providing technical expertise and recommendations to customers.
  • Leads and performs engineering tasks for critical or complex projects requiring multidisciplinary knowledge. Designs large-scale lighting and water conservation projects with an emphasis on auditing, specification, energy calculations, and quality control of third-party design submissions.
  • Applies knowledge of modern lighting technologies to audit, design, and oversee implementation across various construction types, including street and highway projects. Uses current energy modeling software to support building analysis and project planning.
  • Implements company project control processes to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and quality standards. Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure design intent, constructability, and cost-effectiveness of all deliverables.
  • Demonstrates leadership in safety by promoting compliance, correcting unsafe behaviors, and encouraging a safe work environment. Actively participates in industry groups and technical committees to stay informed on emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Perform engineering tasks applying engineering principles.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) and 5-years of related experience in the evaluation and implementation of energy conservation projects or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
  • Proven knowledge of applicable construction standards and codes
  • Demonstrated experience applying engineering theory and structured problem-solving approaches
  • Experience developing complex energy conservation projects for building construction and retrofit applications, with demonstrated knowledge of associated systems and methodologies
  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC, electrical, building automation, and process-related systems in commercial, industrial, governmental, and healthcare facilities
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Demonstrated experience applying project life cycle cost analysis
  • Computer skills, including proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all levels of the company including Senior Management
  • 8-years professional engineering experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) registration, Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and/or LEED Accreditation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Ability to perform load calculations and energy analyses using industry-standard modeling software, including EnergyPlus, eQuest, Trane Trace 3D, and solar PV evaluation tools such as Helioscope.
  • Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD
