Prin Program Engineer (Civil/Geotechnical)

Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify).
General Summary of Job Responsibilities
The Principal Program Engineer is responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines needed to complete a project. The incumbent oversees multiple initiatives and works to plan projects, establish project criteria, coordinate project reviews, and ensure the proper implementation of project elements. They will also schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities aiming at assuring project accuracy and quality from conception to completion. As well as being responsible for the deliverables of the team and overseeing the work of lower level engineers and technicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects
Assign responsibilities and mentor project team
Build strong partnerships with business partners and deeply understand their business goals
Interact with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and representing them in the field
Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications
Support the Agile project delivery cadence by helping balance team performance with tight deadlines
Develop specifications for the project's needed equipment
Review engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions
Review the engineering tasks and initiate the necessary corrective actions
Provide assistance and technical support to project managers and other project participants and collaborate with senior engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability
Perform quality control tasks on budgets, schedules, plans, and personnel performance and reporting on the project's status
Other duties as assigned or may be necessary
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD
Proficient in MS Office with aptitude for learning new software
Written and verbal communication skills
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong understanding of GD&T principles
Familiarity with rules, regulations, best practices and performance standards
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program with seven (7) or more years of program engieering as well as working on advanced projects
[OR] Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a non-ABET accredited program plus a Professional Engineering license with (7) or more years of program engieering as well as working on advanced projects
Preferred Experience
Candidate should have fundamental knowledge of engineering and construction contracts and the technical documents required for a complete bid package
Candidate should have past experience as a consulting design engineer at a regional or national engineering firm with breadth and depth of knowledge in civil site design and construction with an emphasis on geotechnical work
Candidate should be highly organized, self motivated, and determined; handling multiple projects and assignments daily
Communication, coordination and time management skills are critical
Candidate should have past experience managing/directing/overseeing engineering consultants (sub-consultants); negotiating scope schedule and budget to meet project requirements
General knowledge of traditional power plant systems and renewable energy systems is preferred but not required
