Job Overview The role of the Engineering Technician I is to provide day-to-day support with practical experience, which includes laboratory testing, manufacturing, and or troubleshooting/maintenance. Preferred experience in multimedia and or audio/visual control and distribution systems. Shipboard Interior Communications Technician capable. This position reports directly to the VIDS Group in Chesapeake, VA. This position is open to Chugach Employees, Chugach Shareholders and Chugach Descendants ONLY. Work Model: Onsite/In-Office Responsibilities Essential Duties & Job Functions: Working with NIWC Atlantic and other technical codes, program/project managers, and SMEs, the Engineering Technician II will assist with the installation, planning, testing, and integration of complex audio visual displays, various communication and electronic warfare systems, related ancillary and computer based systems onboard naval ships and command centers worldwide. Job Requirements Mandatory: Must be a US citizen. One of the following four CERTIFICATIONS is required: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Sec+, CompTIA Net+, or AVIXA CTS. Must have Associate's Degree in C4ISR systems, Engineering Technology, or equivalent and (1) years of installation/integration experience OR have a High School diploma and Three (3) years of practical experience relative to job / cert field. Must be able to attain a Secret clearance. Must be willing to travel up to 75% CONUS/OCONUS and work extended hours including weekends and holidays. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and pre-hire drug test. Working Conditions: Must be able to work indoors/outdoors. Must be able to tolerate cold/heat. Comfortable working around exposures to hazards. Ability to work in low-lit areas for long periods of time Occasional travel may be necessary Physical Requirements: Must be able lift 50 lbs. Must be able to stoop, bend or squat to accommodate obstruction in varied environments Must be able to carry. Comfortable working on ladders.
