We are recruiting for a highly skilled, independent and determined Battery and Electronics Engineering Technician based at our Broadview, IL site. This is a full-time on-site position. You will join a high performance, passionate team and help lead the world to clean mobility by building and prototyping battery packs.

Additional responsibilities may include setting up and testing battery packs and cells, operating wire bond welding equipment, mixing and applying potting material, and troubleshooting electrical systems. You must be an effective communicator (written and verbal) to clearly state product and process improvements, and project or test status.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Build and test prototype HV and LV battery packs.
  • Fabricate wire harnesses and cables.
  • Fabricate and route cooling hoses and tubes.
  • Set up and run battery packs and cell-level performance and safety tests.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical inspections on battery packs, including battery pack teardowns.
  • Support wire bond welding, soldering, and PCBA integration.
  • Troubleshoot issues in battery modules, packs, and systems.
  • Document procedures, setups, and results accurately.
  • Create and modify lab fixtures.
  • Maintain lab organization, safety, and equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineers to improve battery designs and assembly processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3 years of experience as an engineering technician
  • Associates degree preferred
  • Maintains positive attitude in periods of challenges and stress.
  • Reads and writes English effectively, speaks with clarity and listens actively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning and coordination skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills.

DESIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, ability to disassemble and reassemble products safely.
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards, including working with High Voltage and spinning machinery.
  • Ability to use electrical tools like multimeter, Hi-Pot tester, thermal cameras and oscilloscopes.
  • Experience with Li-ion battery energy storage systems a plus.
  • Adept working in fast-paced environments.
  • Basic wiring knowledge, ability to connect sensors, power supplies, and Data Acquisition to test platforms.
