Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer. This role is based at our Greenwood, SC Eaton manufacturing facility and offers relocation assistance to those currently residing in the United States.
Our Mechanical Engineer will help drive innovation in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) technology! You will work on NPD projects, design reviews, and technology roadmaps. With responsibilities spanning IP strategy, system specification, and advanced system testing, this role positions you to revolutionize sustainable energy solutions!
The expected annual salary range for this role is $67500.0 - $99000.0 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you'll do:
- Assist with NPD project execution related to the sheet metal panel design of Compact/GIS Switchgear for the Medium Voltage Assemblies team
- The technical lead for complex technology and product realization programs/projects involving multiple components utilizing internal project execution processes and leading Design Reviews and Technical Reviews
- Co-leads ideation events related to managing frames & enclosures
- Support strategically identifing external partnerships and outside technologies in relation to frames and enclosures
- Partner with engineering teams to set IP strategy with business unit stakeholders and actively contributes to IP generation
- Help to define requirements and assist in executing project aspects involving multiple stakeholders from technology investigation, system specification, test plan & execution, modeling & simulation, component selection, system packaging & thermal analysis
- Collaborate with lab support personnel in the execution of complex system tests at low and medium voltage
Qualifications:
Required (Basic) Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution
- One year of engineering experience working with sheet metal and panel design
- Ability to travel up to 15%

Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of engineering experience with new product development/design
- Three years of experience with 3D modeling software (Preferred AutoDesk Inventor)
- Two years experience within the HV or MV Switchgear domain or parts with experience in design and development of system architecture, component specifications of Gas Insulated Switchgear systems
- Basic understanding of IEEE switchgear standards
- Demonstrated experience in model-based design and simulation techniques for various aspects of system design including thermal management, dielectric, advanced mechanical systems and reliability
- Knowledge of materials relevant to GIS systems
