Civil Project Engineer

Due to MSG's continued growth in our Civil/Municipal Division, a new opening is available for a Project Engineer within our Columbus, OH municipal services team.
Key Responsibilities
  • Work in conjunction with licensed engineers assisting with the design and preparation of a variety of community infrastructure projects (ie. water/waste water, roadway, recreational facilities etc.) throughout the Midwest.
  • Coordinate with fellow MSG staff across a variety of services sectors including: Surveying, Geotechnical, Structural, Traffic, Transportation, Site Construction, etc.
  • Perform and check various design calculations and various tasks as they relate to preparing a design package.
  • Preparing front end feasibility documents, due diligence reports and zoning studies, project development, storm water modeling and design, cost estimates and detailed design plans.
  • Assist local agencies with review of development plans.


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Practical experience in design and plan preparation of site development projects.
  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • EI certification in the state of Ohio required, with a PE preferred.
  • At least 4 years of related experience.
  • Experience with industry design standards.
  • Understanding of guidelines and specifications. (i.e., City of Columbus and surrounding counties, ODOT, and etc.)
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D or Microstation grading required.
  • Proficiency in independent preparation of Hydraulic/Hydrologic reports is preferred.
  • Roadway design and survey experience are a plus.
  • The ability to engage reviewing agencies while preparing technical designs and addressing comments is a critical part of our process.
  • The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating and coordinating with clients and review agencies.
  • Technical writing skills.
